CLC Customer Charter

This page has been developed to provide you with support and guidance to use the new CLC Customer Charter.

Why use it
How to use it
What comes next

The Charter has been developed to:

  • Enhance our public legal education objectives by reinforcing the benefits to the public of using a regulated legal service provider
  • Strengthen understanding for the public of the protection they receive from using a CLC regulated practice
  • Emphasise the specialist nature of CLC regulation and CLC-regulated practices; our commitment to transparency and the protections available to clients

Why use it

  • Use it to educate consumers about the benefits of using a regulated provider
  • The charter creates an opportunity for you to attract and reassure consumers about what to expect by using a CLC licensed practice
  • Being regulated by the CLC is a sign that the practice is a specialist property lawyer who is bound by a Code of Conduct which sets out the regulatory responsibilities of all practices (and individuals) regulated by us.
  • Using the charter helps the CLC in its work to educate and protect consumers and demonstrates you take the needs of consumers and their customer experience seriously.

How to use it

The actual charter will be hosted be the CLC website here.

You are encouraged to link directly to the webpage. If you choose to replicate the charter on your website the wording is not to be amended.

We have developed a logo you can use on your website and other collateral – please let us know if you would like it in other formats

If you would like the logo or full charter in different formats please let us know what may be of use.

This may include;

  • Hard copy charter A4 or A3
  • Window stickers
  • Logo in different formats or as black and white

The Charter is not a regulatory requirement and use of it on a CLC Regulated  Practice website does not remove the requirement to show the Secure Badge.

To request materials or if you have any questions please email Jon Sacker

What comes next

We will formally launch the Charter at the CLC’s Annual Conference on 28 January 2020 and this will mark the start of our consumer facing public legal education activity.
