Over the last few days, the UK residential property industry, including the CLC, have been working collaboratively and engaging with MHCLG to develop cross-industry Coronavirus (Covid-19) guidance for professionals in ensuring a safe home moving process, whilst maintaining social distancing.
Following the Prime Minister’s statement last night, we expect more detailed guidance for businesses to be issued by the government today.
The home moving industry guidance will be issued as soon as possible after the government’s own guidance is available as it will need to reflect that.
The industry collaboration includes professional organisations representing estate agents and letting agents, property lawyers/conveyancers, surveyors, property managers, home removal and associated professionals such as contractors involved in the property development, management and home moving process in the UK.
The initial guidance will offer recommendations for professionals delivering services that require them to come into close proximity with people and/or enter private residential properties. Our expectation is that, so as far as possible, conveyancers will continue to need to work remotely.
