1. How is the CLC going to support CLC practices during the coronavirus crisis?
The CLC is to give the firms it regulates the option of deferring the regulatory fees that they pay in monthly instalments to help them cope with the coronavirus crisis. This comes following a great deal of specific advice and guidance dealing with the practical impacts of the pandemic and direct discussions with firms that were facing difficulties.
2. Why has the CLC decided to do this?
The CLC shares the government’s determination that businesses that were sound before the coronavirus restrictions came into force should emerge from this period in good shape and able to support the national recovery effort.
3. Are practices who have already paid their regulatory fees eligible to apply?
No, this support is only available for practices who pay their regulatory fees by monthly direct debit.
4. How can I apply?
We have sent practices which can apply a link to a questionnaire. We will consider your application as soon as you submit the completed questionnaire. If a practice has not received the email contact the practice’s Regulatory Supervision Manager (RSM) at monitoring@clc-uk.org
5. How quickly will I receive confirmation whether my application is successful?
All applications will be processed as quickly as possible. We will aim to get back to you within 2 working days of you submitting the completed survey and bank reconciliations. It is our intention not to activate the April direct debits for firms that apply promptly.
6. Do I need to continue to pay PII premiums?
Practices must continue paying their professional indemnity insurance premiums, as the policy is triggered at the time a claim is made, rather than at the time of the alleged negligent act.
7. Will the CLC provide a further concession if the COVID continues after June 2020?
We will look at what further steps we can take to support CLC-regulated firms if the challenges for the sector continue past June.
8. Who do I contact if I have any further questions?
Please contact the practice’s RSM at monitoring@clc-uk.org.
