Applying to become a CLC Technician

CLC Legal Technician Register applicants must have successfully achieved:

  • the CLC/SQA Diploma in Probate Law and Practice Level 4, or equivalent CLC accredited units; and 
  • six months work experience in relevant employment; in a probate or conveyancing practice, legal firm, or organisation offering probate services to the public. 

Applicants must submit to traineelawyer@clc-uk.org:

  1. an application form, including your statement of relevant work experience;
  2. a certified copy of photographic ID, such as a Passport or a Photographic Driving Licence; and
  3. all educational certificates and transcripts.

A one off life-time fee of £75.00 is charged. When your application has been approved, our Trainee Lawyer Team will send you an email containing a link to the automated web basket and instructions for how to pay. Payment can only be made by credit or debit card ONLY. Note: A credit or debit card held in ANY name can be used to make payment.

Once the CLC have received your payment, our Trainee Lawyer Team will send you an email with your Probate Technician Reference Number. Technicians will be removed from the register automatically when they are approved for their CLC Qualifying Probate Licence and become Licensed Probate Practitioner.
